Susan Collins is threatening to show up in a bikini. Josh Hawley is in jeans. But there’s a group of teenage Senate staffers whose dress code remains strict as ever.
If you want a visual for the trajectory of our nation & its leadership, look no further than John Fetterman. The poster child for mental illness wrapped in ego.
Yes but you have to remember he was running against an acclaimed heart surgeon so if you’re a Democrat it’s an easy choice. You go with the obese skinhead who chased a Black guy down the street with a shotgun.
Never has the Black Community sent a clearer message that they do not actually give a shit about racism than when they voted 95% for Fetterman over the transplant surgeon from Oprah.
This just confirms what I have been saying as long as I have posted here. The Democrats are vile, hypocritical, vicious scum. But then again so are most politicians.
They claim with a straight face they are the feminist party yet 100% of the socialists in the House of Representatives voted not to protect women's sports from males competing in women's sports.
I don't care if a man says he's a woman. He's not and never will be a woman. What next, emotionally unstable nut cases saying they are giraffes and the Socialist party will accommodate them with a compassionate giraffe bill forcing the rest of us to recognize them as giraffes.
These people (socialists) are nutz and the crazies who vote for them.
Where is the compassionate left's compassion for female athletes. Trans weight lifter just broke the woman's lifting record by 400 pounds. I don't think it's fair but Dem/Soc do?
Where is the NCAA on this bullshit? This makes me boiling angry as it should all rational people.
If you are a convicted serial killer and have D behind your name those morons on the left will vote for you. They voted for Bill Clinton. TWICE!!! And they voted for the head of the Biden crime family, the ever senile Joe.
Hey - not a fan of D's in general these days (but yes, I did vote for Clinton twice - remember who he was running against...), but didn't Herr Orange Hair boast that he could murder someone on 5th Avenue and MAGA volks would still vote for him?
Yeah I remember who he ran against. Bill was a draft dodger, serial woman molester and both times he ran against WW II war heroes. Draft dodger and serial molester - war hero? Hmm, that's a tough one.
George W. Bush was in the National Guard (not the real army). Trump got five deferments, never served. Biden also got 5 deferments. His son Beau served in Iraq. After the draft was ended in 1974 serving in the military was no longer seen as a plus, and in an odd turn of events McCain's service was actually used against him- Trump ridiculed him for being captured and held for five and a half years. No Trump male served in the military, not even Fred, Donald's father. Clinton also received deferments. If you're looking for abusers of women look no further than p*ssy-grabbing Trump, his words, not mine.
He ran against George HW Bush (who admittedly, undermined his own campaign effort by promising "no new taxes," and then allowing the Democrats to lure him into a compromise "bipartisan (!)" budget deal that created exactly what he promised not to do) and one of the greatest Americans to ever sit in the Senate, Bob Dole. Both of them were far better men and far better leaders than Bill Clinton. Though, sadly, I'd probably have to take Clinton over any of the last three men elected to the presidency.
Special Counsel in the Iran Contra Affair Lawrence Walsh Re opened the Grand Jury Indictment of Casper Weinberger President George HW Bush’s Secretary of Defense on the eve of the 1992 Presidential election against Clinton didn’t help
Many political pundits felt at the time it torpedo’d Bush’s chance of winning Re-election
Wasn't there a surgeon darling of Republican flavor? Oh, yeah. What happened to him? Right. He died of covid campaigning against vaccination. Just because he's a surgeon doesn't mean he has the sense God gave a celery stick. Might, of course. One does hope.
Yep. I'm 67. Had 2 jobs and a booster. Got my first Covid infection while traveling overseas (Norway). Was a crummy flu/cold kind of thing. Will not be getting the new booster tho.
I assume you’re talking about yourself. You do realize Ben Carson is not Herman Cain, and Herman Cain was not a doctor? So to tally it all up, you’ve got racism, speaking ill of the dead, and my personal favorite of yourself looking stupid while purporting to mock someone as stupid. Delicious.
"the people who voted for this uncouth moron don't get a pass".
I’m not sure how many people actually voted for Fetterman but even if he were dressed in a tuxedo he’d still come off as brain dead buffoon who should embarrass every person who did vote for him. If attire were the measure of a senator, every democrat and more than a few republicans would dress like Pinocchio
Maybe it's just me, but I think if there were shots of Fetterman in a tuxedo he would remind me of Peter Boyle in "Young Frankenstein" in the "Putting on the Ritz" bit.
I gotta ask, was it his attire that swung their vote or the "D" after his name? Surely it couldn't have been his incoherent mumbling during his campaign. But the biggest question for me is, would they vote for him again?
I'm going to visit them soon, so I'll ask how they feel about the mumbling. But I'm pretty sure that if Fetterman only spoke Klingon, they'd vote for him anyway. Come to think of it, it might actually be Klingon...
All joshing aside, I'm pretty sure it was the "D" part more than the shorts, although they do dress casual, since they live in the woods. And would they vote for him again? As long as he's still breathing, I assume yes, because they suffer from advanced TDS. They're genuinely afraid of encountering anyone sporting visible signs of MAGA-ism, like a red hat or a bumper sticker. This can make life stressful for them because there are a lot of Republicans in their neck of the woods. If it were me, I'd be more afraid of the bears behind their property, but I'm a city girl.
My wife has two clients (late 60’s, wealthy white women) who told her that “Fetterman is really smart and he’s accomplished so much”. It was all she could do to not laugh out loud at them. Neither have any idea that Daddy supported him until he was in his forties, the city of Braddock is as much a dump as when he started as mayor, he chased down an innocent black guy with a shotgun and he’s incapacitated due to the stroke.
This is why I push so hard on voting. I know this isn't presidential here, but we really need to focus locally and hold local representatives accountable:
The code that allows Senator Menedez to have gold bars (not on his shirt but in his pocket) and still not forced to resign is even more egregious than a hoodie and shorts.
Senator Menedez just announced that he is running for re-election! Wonder if he was inspired to run by the opportunity of six more years to accept bribes and/or a dress code that accomodates the ability to scoop up bigger bribes and hoodie anonymity.
To gain a more ethical Senate may be a task that is the equivalent of eating an elephant. But one eats an elephant, a bite at a time. Why not start with a bite out of an offender indicted on federal bibery charges? What Mendez has done is so incredibly egregious that he deserves to be chewed up and spit out of the US Senate!
One bite will hopefully be the start that leads to more bites against corruption on both sides of the aisle and both houses of Congress.
*mental illness and blatant Vax injuries being rubbed in our faces. Shows what a joke the system is to the deep state puppet masters pulling the strings. They’re toying with us, just seeing how much complete ridiculousness people will blindly accept in the deep dark throws of TDS.
Oh, dear me! And here I thought that was Biden! No, wait! It's Trump! Oh, lord, I'm mistaken, he's ego wrapped in Eggos. No! It's Diane Feinstein! Oops! No! She's Eggo wrapped in dementia!
Oh, lord! Deliver us from Fetterman!
Seriously Evan the rambler? You actually think this is playing with most Americans? Nobody gives a damn.
They're a$$hats all, but if they wear a suit nicely 👌 ALL IS FORGIVEN!
I don't know about most Americans, but the relatives in PA are upset that this was the best candidate the ballot-harvesting democRATs could come up with....
I moved to NC from California seven years ago, received mail-in ballots (sometimes multiples for the same election) for six, even though I’d gone through all the proper channels for residency change more than once. Finally went on the warpath last year and got them to stop - I think.
I moved to ID from CA 14 years ago. I have been registered to vote in CA for 12 of those years, even tho, I did everything to notify my county that I had moved. I even got notices to my ID address that I needed to license my dogs in CA. I wrote back that I now lived in ID. I got a prompt notice of late fines for failure of licensing my dogs in CA. For some reason the county maintained that I still lived in CA, but my mailing address was in ID. Nothing I could do to change it. I lived in ID for 7 years before I signed up for FB. FB sent me notices that I should vote in my CA county and even sent me "badges" stating I was a 25 voter in that county, but I had only lived in that county for 15 years.
I used to do a lot of pro bono legal work, and I always dressed in business formal for those meetings even though my office was business casual. I had peers who dressed down to be “relatable” to the often low-income clients, but to me that was massively condescending. I wanted to make sure my clients (mostly disabled soldiers) knew that I took their cases as seriously as I took the ones I was getting paid for, and a suit was one way to demonstrate that.
Even comedians like Bill Maher wear a coat and tie. Why? To show respect to the audience! The buffoon Fetterman respects no one! And Schumer had not the guts to challenge him. Back in the 60's a phrase predicted the future: "We'll destroy ourselves from within."
Your comment reminds me of Brooke Astor who died at 102 a few years ago. She was a philanthropist who gave to the NY library among many others including organizations in Harlem which was long before it was gentrified.
She was noted to be a fashionista with a boatload of gorgeous jewels which she wore wherever she went - including her forays into Harlem. She was once asked why she gussied up to go to the impoverished communities she visited. Her answer was pretty much the same as yours - she wanted to show that how she dressed showed she had respect not only for the richest people at the NY Library meetings, but also for the poorest of the poor in NYC.
I once gave a very elegant New Years Eve party which was costly in terms of money, planning and effort. In those days, NY Eve was an occasion to dress up in your finest and everyone did except one guest who showed up ala Fetterman. He was never invited back.
"Firm believer that your dress isn’t so much a sign of pride as it is a sign of respect for your peers."
-------
I can agree with this. I'd argue that the dress code is also a sign of professionalism from an optics perspective. Hence why Doctor's wear labcoats. There's a visual signal here
"Hilarious that we have leaders in flip flops and gym shorts. One step closer to an idiocracy."
------
I think this is the true goal here. Propaganda doesn't come baring its fangs. Rather it comes very subtly...
Such a great post. In a place with different values, we as a nation collectively agree upon that. And in this case, with most of the changes, it is about accepting the downward slide in values to accommodate one person who has an issue rather than hurting that person's feelings and upholding standards.
Jon, Jon, Jon, you presuppose we can learn anything from the past. The past is replete with people who thought the wrong things. We are the apex of human thought and moral superiority. History should learn from us!
This is one hundreds of silly crap we are being subjected to. No one think Schumer should have done this. However, and I am being charitable on one hand and practicing without a license on the other. Strokes can change brain chemistry. Fetterman Depression is a symptom of that. It may be that the constrictor of wearing a suit causes anxiety in Fetterman which makes his recovery more difficult. There may be a mental response rather than simply allowing what most think is inane. If it is just a capricious cave in to Fetterman’s desire to look like a slob, Schumer can’t read the room. You don’t change policy for the hundreds of people involved for one person....It is bad for the institution. He should have polled the Senate as a courtesy to his fellow Senators and staff should also have been considered.
Oh hell there was a day when my kids told us they hated us....He is likely ill and should never have run. What ever the motive for him running by his wife and Democrat Party in PA, it can only be viewed as selfish and crass politics. How effective can this guy be?
If Fetterman can’t handle wearing a suit bc of his mental illness, do we really believe he can handle the digestion and evaluation of complex legislation and make intelligent decisions? No. On the other hand, Biden wears a suit, but it doesn’t help his dementia….
We have a sitting senator soo far gone that her daughter has power of attorney over her financial affairs.
(I'll leave aside for the present that the daughter is filing to change the terms of the trust for her mother so that she can get some of the considerable assets of the trust. She was left off for not being a blood relative of the trust's grantor.)
Notice that Biden always wears a blue suit that looks that it's late for its date with an iron.
earl King, you made a good point; however, my mother + my best friend both had strokes (ages 90 & 71). Both, ASAP, began dressing as they had BEFORE! Neither could hardly wait to ditch the “loose house dress” and get back to what they called their “normal clothes”
Fetterman was a slob before, hence he’s more comfortable staying one!
Wait - You don’t change policy for a great majority to accommodate a tiny minority of people? Checking notes, to make sure policies concerning a handful of trans soldiers, sailors, and airmen haven’t changed … no, whew, sanity still reigns there!
No, my point is sarcasm: Commenting on the fact that policies change all the time to accommodate a tiny minority, such as trans people in the military, to the detrimentof the vast majority. I’m afraid that sarcasm doesn’t always come off well in print.
I agree John. Notice that no defense attorney would allow his client to appear before a jury without respectful attire. Most wear a suit and tie or appropriate conservative dress. The jury would be offended by someone who showed up in a hoodie and gym shorts. The lawyer knows that most people make judgments about how one is dressed even though they don’t admit it.
It was a slippery slope in the workplace, starting with Casual Fridays. But the real pivot point was when hippies became cool, and Dems embraced them as political allies and voters. Dress codes relaxed everywhere. Now, only a few older folks dress up for church weddings, even funerals.
A while back I went to my son's church, and had thought I had dressed down a bit by wearing a sport coat and tie in lieu of a suit that I would normally wear to church.
I was extremely overdressed compared to the rest of the congregation.
Here's a (hopefully) funny and memorable story Working at a Wall St law firm when business casual Fridays were first introduced, I asked a particularly crusty (but actually lovable) Senior Partner what he thought of it. He harrumphed as he said disparagingly "It's nonsense; the natives show no respect if one's not in uniform." Classic.
My partner has a law firm (Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex). EVERYDAY he’s up at 6:00, “$hit, showered & shaved” to quote him😉 He’s always dressed in suit & tie, and requires same from the lawyers in his firm. No one has ever so much as questioned it.
Also, he only wears his Timex watch to the office. He says his Rolex is for after hours, and that’s bc he doesn’t want or need to be “flashy like the Dream Team TV lawyers”
I suppose he, too, is a “crusty ‘ole attorney” and I swear, he can smell Bull$hit from 50 miles away!
Worked with quite a few great Texas attorneys in my day and they were truly a breed apart. An endearing combination of brains, sharpness and "aw shucks" humility sprinkled with a generous dollop of earthy humor. True delightful colleagues.
Finally, I well written argument regarding the point of the blog, rather than a bunch of political blather about individual politicians. Sometimes I fear The Free Press comment section is turning into just a disrespectful free for all.
If there is a sign of pride and/or respect then by definition there is a way to show the opposite. If dress is a way that a person shows pride/respect then also by definition there is a way not to show it.
What if someone says having tatoos is a way of showing contempt then where do we go? What if someone claims that having a deliberately disfigured (deliberate use of the word to show how emotional things become) body shows contempt for your peers? Also, what then do we say to people who disfigure themselves to wear earrings etc?
The problem I have with all such discussions is that in the absence of adequate thought on many foundational ideas we start to voice preferences as if they are universal when they're not.
All that these kinds of arguments ultimately are is - I say vs you say.
When I was in retail middle management, I was told to dress for the job you want. I could get away with black jeans and polo shirts to blend in with the other employees, but I was always going to be middle management if that the way I saw myself. Dressing professionally if not a requirement should be the choice, you make if you are a professional. If you want to dress like an unemployed bottom feeder or a retiree, then by all means leave the government and live your dream.
Reminds me of the batshit crazy Scottish granny my father-in-law was briefly married to after my beloved mother-in-law's death. Eventually I figured out *nothing* that came out of her mouth was ever true. The question was always whether it was 5 degrees off from the truth or 180 degrees.
I love how they constantly insert "Q-anon" into his descriptor, as if Jacob Chansley ever had any association whatsoever to that CIA psyop. It sure does trigger the masses though.
John Fetterman shares with Karl Marx a profound laziness which he no doubt rationalizes somehow, but which amounts to a lack of self respect. I'm pretty sure he smells bad too, also like Marx.
And what WAS there to respect, even before he became a vegetable, unable to speak coherently? He's a Doritos eating couch potato, who happens to think playing politics is like playing Dungeons and Dragons, and who thinks he has a real spell which will magically fix something, despite his lack of understanding and efforft.
As I seem to be saying daily, our real problem is simply a pervasive childishness that keeps getting worse as we indulge it. How do you teach kids to deal with a life that is hard if every rule is made to be broken, and if you allow them to break them the moment their little hearts feel the slightest whiff of anxiety? Are we not breeding neurotic, emotionally demanding, and latently violent little shits who will spit on and destroy everything that has value, then wonder why their lives have no meaning?
Yes. Let's not forget Feinstein, who is even worse than Fetterman, but seemingly dressed by more diligent handlers on the rare occassions she does show up, and any more probably Mitch McConnell.
Yes. I wonder, though, how many Hispanics will vote for people working to destroy all the advantages America offers, and at that while violating nearly all the conservative Catholic values most of them hold dear.
It would be pretty funny and ironic if the America destroying Democrats got what they wanted, only to find out it wasn’t what they wanted.
The US Constitution explicitly states cruel and unusual punishments inflicted are Unconstitutional. Amy Klobuchar in a tube top is cruel and unusual punishment, and possibly a crime against humanity!
Jeff Foxworthy : If your stomach blocks your view of your feet, cover it up! The only people who should be wearing belly shirts are people who don't have bellies. Now those little baby spare tires are kinda cute; tractor tires aren't! Especially if they've got hair on them!
Since Fetterman's fitness for the job is in question, why not test that even further by allowing him to come to work looking like a mental health patient?
Relaxing dress codes has long been a concern of mine. Back in the day, I hated ironing the white shirt uniform I waited tables in; the managers' scrutiny (I loved ironing, but could not get those shirts ironed well enough), or at times even being told when job-seeking that my look wasn't -- whatever enough.
But things really have gone way too far. At the university where I work, I've seen female professors walking around half naked. Female teachers in yoga pants that enhance their pudendum. Yes, I can't help gawking at it, even though I'm female, that's where my eyes go and so do yours. I've long wondered why corporate dress for men is as chaste as it comes, but for women there appears to be a cleavage requirement.
(Are women heaving their cleavage because men "oppress" them into doing it? Inquiring minds want to know. All I know is, I don't want to be forced to look at it.)
And countless times over the years, female students come to class in outfits that distract the males, while being taught in their Women's Studies class upstairs that it's all a "social construct" that waving their butt cheeks in men's faces drives them to distraction. One summer I had a Venezuelan male student who came to class in dress shirts and blazers, sitting beside a female with her butt and tits literally hanging out -- this made ME uncomfortable -- never mind this poor guy blushing and turning away and never mind memorizing conditionals.
Frankly, I miss seeing people respectfully dressed wherever I went. We've lost our pride and it shows.
What's most important about dress codes is that those who don't have common sense and common decency will look respectable. I would love to do a coffee table book of photos of some of the "fashion" in Bed-Stuy -- mothers in second skin jumpsuits, huge heaving ass cheeks on display. It's hideous, just hideous. Pushing strollers, yanking kids down the block, looking, literally, like prostitutes.
The other day, arriving at the college, another male professor was coming toward me in a tie-dyed T-shirt, baggy shorts, and worn-out athletic shoes with filthy looking socks. He looked like a CLOWN. I couldn't withhold a joke about Grateful Dead concerts, which was utterly lost on him. He's in his forties and dresses like a teenager. AT WORK. For a position that ought to command some modicum of dignity and respect.
All this does have an effect on us. It's gas lighting to insist it doesn't.
“What's most important about dress codes is that those who don't have common sense and common decency will look respectable.”
EXACTLY THIS.
Just because there is a relaxed dress code, doesn’t mean you show up to work looking like Fetterman does. And this is why dress codes are implemented, to guide those who have no idea how to dress appropriately for work.
Dress codes do send a visual message. Fox has women in cocktail dresses where the hem and the bodice are the critical 5 degrees of separation. Men presenting for Fox are dressed modestly with covered arms, no ankles or toes exposed, and only a slight exposure of an adam's apple.
Pink angels, crystals and three piece suits aside, the Constitution represents a true transcendent. Those holding the offices prescribed within it act in service to it. They're publicly sworn (on a Bible) to defend the Constitution, the American Republic, and the liberty and freedom of the people who elected them to office.
As an example, the Presidency is bigger than the man holding the office because the fate of the Republic, and its citizens, in large measure, has been entrusted to his care. For decades "..we the people.." have witnessed, and continue to suffer, the indignity and mal consequences of a Presidency (willingly or otherwise) held hostage to a lie by a venal and avaricious cabal of grifters. And the central banking corporate fascists they serve. If there is no transcendent or lines of moral demarcation, if "everything means everything so nothing means anything", we are living in a free fire zone. One cannot remain a functioning human being or survive indefinitely in a free fire zone.
Perhaps the elected membership of the House and the Senate should work from home where slippers and sweat pants won't offend. Why even get out of bed? Or, better yet, a national zip up the front uniform would simplify. Orange for the citizen with a nifty red, white and blue arm patch to denote elected officials and black camo for agents of the surveillance state. After all, moral responsibility, courtesy, punctuality and professionalism are colonialist traits created by white supremacists to enslave the world. This freedom thing is completely out of hand. Why bother with elected leadership at all? Simply proclaim a YouTube "diktat" hour framed as a sitcom. We could call it SCHWAB KNOWS BEST. Billy Gates could play the loving wife and AOC could be that quirky addled hare brained daughter never quite sure of what's coming out of her mouth. It would be Hillarious. A sweet reminder to let you know, the jokes on you.
Fetterman should actually be required to wear overalls and a straw hat.
Whoever is sitting next to Boebert should be allowed to wear sweatpants for strategic reasons.
All of the Republicans should wear KKK outfits just so we can watch how the media coverage of Republicans with them wearing KKK outfits is the exact same as the coverage now with them in suits occasionally suggesting we should dial back the communism.
“I remember clearly when Rhode Island’s Sheldon Whitehouse pointed to his black slip-on Puma sneakers and eagerly informed another lawmaker, “These are only ninety-nine dollars”
——————————————————-
The best part is that he’s not allowed to wear those shoes at the WHITES ONLY yacht club he is a member of.
I hated my last job before retiring and one of the ways I survived was to put my best foot forward and not by wearing rubber flip flops. I wore skirts, dresses and planned what I was wearing the night before. Taking pride in the way I dressed enabled me to overcome many of the obstacles I faced in the workplace.
Our country is suffering and to see a senator dressed like he's heading to the basketball courts is an insult to the millions who are setting aside their personal problems by going to work, keeping their homes clean, tending to the needs of their families and being stewards to the areas in which they live. If John Fetterman can't do what we as citizens do every day, he should step down.
This isn't about a dress code. It is a distraction from the real problem.
If an employee with a bona fide disability requires a reasonable accommodation to perform the essential requirements of his or her job, an employer would permit it.
Most (Democrats and the media excluded) would agree that Fetterman has a series of health issues, including a stroke, clinical depression, and significant communicative problems that would qualify as a disability. The real issue is that there is a serious question about Fetterman's ability to do his job. If his job is to do anything other than vote along Democratic party lines, that is.
Did you hear about Canada honoring the 98 year old Ukrainian who fought against the Russians in WWII? He fought for the Wehrmacht so he was literally a nazi and they honored him! That’ll show Putin
I thought they were doing Soros but then I realized he didn’t fight the Russians, just helped the nazis take Jewish property and finger them
I didn't but why are we surprised? Although after the famine that Stalin induced in Ukraine, leading to the deaths of millions of Ukrainians, it's understandable that some would side with the Germans. Until, of course, the horrors of that Faustian pact were unveiled. Complicated story. But honoring anyone today who fought with the Germans, which included the SS, is hard to fathom.
The 98-year-old Nazi was selected and vetted by one guy - the Liberal Speaker of the House of Commons. He was obviously clueless about history and the Ukrainian Nazis, and the real background came out after the guy was glorified by the entire HOC and Zelenskyy.
Fortunately, there is enough outrage that it may lead to the fall of the Lib-NDP coalition government - in which case it was totally worth it.
So, let me get his straight: The countries "leaders" have decided to stop dressing PROFESSIONALLY to work. Yet, we still trust them to act professionally in their actions?
No one else seeing the decline (or destruction) of the country here?
similar to the Met Gala during Covid Times™ when AOC wore the dress...and the attendees were not masked - but all the POC that were serving the better folx were.
The "leaders" don't have to dress professionally, but their servants do?
There is a reason they're forced to wear flammable, recycled plastic bottle suits that can meld with their skin when ignited. The warning label accompanying the suits may not have mentioned it, but the senators they lead around - so they don't "walk straight into walls", are each provided with lighters lest the little dears publicly relay any indelicate experiences with said "leaders".
I'm not going to pretend that I really care about a "loosening" of the rules. Almost every professional workplace has transitioned to business casual over the last 10-20 years. But there is a massive difference between looking and dressing professional, and what Fetterman is doing.
Furthermore, I think Schumer's call just perfectly encapsulates what the Democratic Party is now about. It isn't just advocating for the vulnerable or minority. They need to capitulate to the most extreme examples , no matter what the issue is. If Fetterman doesn't want to wear a suit, fine - there are any number of ways he could dress and still look professional. But to pretend that it's ok to dress like a total slob and it has no impact on how our leaders are perceived, not just here and around the world, is absurd
If you want a visual for the trajectory of our nation & its leadership, look no further than John Fetterman. The poster child for mental illness wrapped in ego.
Sorry but the people who voted for this uncouth moron don't get a pass.
They claim with a straight face they are the feminist party yet 100% of the socialists in the House of Representatives voted not to protect women's sports from males competing in women's sports.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/save-women-s-sports-bill-passes-house-with-zero-votes-from-dems-who-call-it-transgender-bullying/ar-AA1a6R2J
Hey, I'm all for that bill if it means we can lock them all up in zoos!
Where is the compassionate left's compassion for female athletes. Trans weight lifter just broke the woman's lifting record by 400 pounds. I don't think it's fair but Dem/Soc do?
Where is the NCAA on this bullshit? This makes me boiling angry as it should all rational people.
Lone...nice call.
If you are a convicted serial killer and have D behind your name those morons on the left will vote for you. They voted for Bill Clinton. TWICE!!! And they voted for the head of the Biden crime family, the ever senile Joe.
I rest my case.
Clinton was the first black President remember? He said it because MSM reported it
I wouldn't vote for Clinton for any office. To me he is human garbage. Both he and his wife are evil.
GHWB was done-in by his sense of duty to his country. And Bob Dole was one of the nastiest politicians in my long political memory.
Tim, remember...fact from fiction, can you separate?
Wasn't there a surgeon darling of Republican flavor? Oh, yeah. What happened to him? Right. He died of covid campaigning against vaccination. Just because he's a surgeon doesn't mean he has the sense God gave a celery stick. Might, of course. One does hope.
Caineward we should go?
I don’t know who you’re talking about but the person whose death you are mocking was correct. The vaccine absolutely does not work, Shartacus.
I think this jagoff is probably mistaking Herman Cain for Ben Carson. I guess black republicans all look the same to tolerant libs.
LOL so he’s a racist AND he thinks the vaccines work. Glory to Ukraine!!
😂😂😂
Forget it he’s rolling…

Yep. I'm 67. Had 2 jobs and a booster. Got my first Covid infection while traveling overseas (Norway). Was a crummy flu/cold kind of thing. Will not be getting the new booster tho.
Shartacus. Shit, I like that one.
Idiocy is its own reward.
Delicious.
Is this a confession?
you would know Farticuss

"the people who voted for this uncouth moron don't get a pass".
I’m not sure how many people actually voted for Fetterman but even if he were dressed in a tuxedo he’d still come off as brain dead buffoon who should embarrass every person who did vote for him. If attire were the measure of a senator, every democrat and more than a few republicans would dress like Pinocchio
Maybe it's just me, but I think if there were shots of Fetterman in a tuxedo he would remind me of Peter Boyle in "Young Frankenstein" in the "Putting on the Ritz" bit.
Peter Boyle played the role with more literacy.
Ain’t a tall hill for a climber
Lurch...
But John Kerry has co-opted that moniker.
Pfft...John Kerry’s been living off his wife’s money and gotten by by being Kennedy adjacent all his life
‘I’m not sure how many people actually voted for Fetterman…’
Answer: nobody really knows.
Yea...It's Pennsylvania where a Democrat election official was on camera asking his cohort if she knew they were committing a felony.
Oh man...so true.
I hear he was wildly popular with voters in nursing homes. This according to ballot harvesters.
Same bullshit different election!
Good point. How many votes from the City of Brotherly Love were legit?
Didn't Pittsburg have more votes than there were registered voters? Or was that Erie?
I know a couple in the Lehigh Valley section of PA who voted for him.
So for sure, two.
K’plah( i think thats how it’s spelled in klingon )
They are Dem/Socialists. Of course they will vote for him again.
If the Dems exhumed Charlie Manson put him in a suit and ran him for president these View watching nit wits would vote for him.
They wouldn't need a suit.
You made me laugh. Thanks.
Tim...looks like congress did not want to be associated with said "fetters", hence they gave him/her a distinct dress code. like it?
This is why I push so hard on voting. I know this isn't presidential here, but we really need to focus locally and hold local representatives accountable:

😂😂😂
I thought you said the hambburgler lol.
Me too! (Both are funny)
The code that allows Senator Menedez to have gold bars (not on his shirt but in his pocket) and still not forced to resign is even more egregious than a hoodie and shorts.
If he wears cargo shorts and a hoodie he will have many more places to stuff the gold.
Senator Menedez just announced that he is running for re-election! Wonder if he was inspired to run by the opportunity of six more years to accept bribes and/or a dress code that accomodates the ability to scoop up bigger bribes and hoodie anonymity.
JoAnne...I'm thinking, he is jealous of Joe.
With Joe's marbles? I think not.
Both, bad.
Bad enough to not be re-elected?!
To hold Gold-Bar Bob to that standard would mean that a majority of the Senate would have to be replaced...from BOTH parties.
JoAnne...nice hit.

I'm from Philly--moved away 2 years ago to NC. I still get emails for PA asking me to vote.
They think you're dead.
Oh God, that made me laugh but is so true. When I die, I want to be buried in Louisiana or Chicago so I can continue to vote.
I moved to NC from California seven years ago, received mail-in ballots (sometimes multiples for the same election) for six, even though I’d gone through all the proper channels for residency change more than once. Finally went on the warpath last year and got them to stop - I think.
Tell them you are still alive. That will stop it.
on a roll...funny.
Pris.. I just moved to Pa., you should have stayed, they sent me Two voting forms, just for me, because they know I am two of me.

abetted by the like of Senate 'leader; Schumer - the truly soft underbelly of the gov't
Firm believer that your dress isn’t so much a sign of pride as it is a sign of respect for your peers.
A tailored suit is the amalgamation of centuries of trial and error to prompt distinction and competence - two virtues the senate could use.
Sometimes tradition isn’t about conformity, sometimes it really is about the best way to do something (as noted in lessons from history)
Hilarious that we have leaders in flip flops and gym shorts. One step closer to an idiocracy.
Yes Indeed!
a suit and tie makes a man look handsome.. a tux. well ...melt ....
Chuck was in a no win situation. Acts of “hateful violence” against the disabled are frowned upon, he would surely tell us.
“He can wear a diaper and Crocs in the senate for all I’m concerned. He’s earned that right.”
--Predictable response from Chuck Schumer.
Same thing as a resident at Charity hospital. When not in scrubs button down shirt tie khakis white coat
Shows respect for those you serve and care for
Wonderful post, I hope you were successful in all your cases you represented!
I diggit!!!
They don't actually respect our country, culture, or history, and they are showing it.
Everything Democrats do makes sense if you assume they are trying to destroy the US from within and transfer our sovereignty to a global order.
Spot on, the Democrats are the party of evil, they are adamant to murder us within.
"Firm believer that your dress isn’t so much a sign of pride as it is a sign of respect for your peers."

I can agree with this. I'd argue that the dress code is also a sign of professionalism from an optics perspective. Hence why Doctor's wear labcoats. There's a visual signal here
"Hilarious that we have leaders in flip flops and gym shorts. One step closer to an idiocracy."

I think this is the true goal here. Propaganda doesn't come baring its fangs. Rather it comes very subtly...

“Hey voters, we want to look just like you. We are just like you.”

Then why no Native American headress?
2 for 2... at least
He’s always been a slob. Fancies himself a working class hero while living off rich mom and dad. His children dress like him.
Oh hell there was a day when my kids told us they hated us....He is likely ill and should never have run. What ever the motive for him running by his wife and Democrat Party in PA, it can only be viewed as selfish and crass politics. How effective can this guy be?
Again, earl King, great point! The same applies for dragging out & propping up Biden.
Seemingly, Democrats actually prefer senseless, slightly warm blooded idiots they can get elected. They are easy to control.
Honey...and " those idiots" can see the juicy road ahead....makes sense.
To be fair, how many in the senate can do that on their own these days?
He's "placed" in a suit by a helper.
If wearing a suit causes him anxiety- he is too fragile to be a senator (IMHO).
earl King, you made a good point; however, my mother + my best friend both had strokes (ages 90 & 71).
For how long?
It was sarcasm. Those policies have already changed.
I am sorry. Could be a hangover from a long dream weekend but I’m not getting your point? Is Fetterman trans? Is that what you are saying?
No, my point is sarcasm: Commenting on the fact that policies change all the time to accommodate a tiny minority, such as trans people in the military, to the detrimentof the vast majority. I’m afraid that sarcasm doesn’t always come off well in print.
This was no criticism of you, btw.
No prob. and yes.....the military is being used by some as a way to surgically transition. it is medically necessary? in think not
If he has such physical and mental impairments, he should step down.
Jersey...let's not be so reasonable.
Schumer knows exactly what he is doing, as do the people who installed Fetterman. (They're the same people.)
"Business casual" was the first step on this road to perdition.
It came when the hippie grew old.
If I didn't have a coat and tie on for dinner after I was about six, I didn't get dinner.
And, Bruce, don’t forget “casual Friday” which for some morphed into less than “Business casual” Monday.
Ha, and yes, Bruce!
Amen!
My son (attorney) said they now have casual Saturdays LOL.
I considered (still consider!) that wearing a tie (etc) was (is) a privilege that I'd earned and that bitching about them was largely BS.
“Dressing well is a form of good manners.” Tom Ford
Not a form; it IS good manners.
We will be there the first time we see Crocs on the Senate floor.
Finally, I well written argument regarding the point of the blog, rather than a bunch of political blather about individual politicians. Sometimes I fear The Free Press comment section is turning into just a disrespectful free for all.
Easy, Cynthia. Top attracts intelligent, informed people with refreshing senses of humor. Enjoy!
All these people who never heard the expression, "Stuffed suit."
The attire of the donut is always sartorial excellence.

It's the 5 degrees that causes all the real problems...Close enough for gomment work.

And he didn’t fire a single shot.
I imagine the entire Senate chambers is redolent of a nursing home; Fetterman only adds to the stench.
Yes. Let's not forget Feinstein, who is even worse than Fetterman, but seemingly dressed by more diligent handlers on the rare occassions she does show up, and any more probably Mitch McConnell.
an insult to nursing homes!!
Barry, we’re creating future Democrat voters! Exactly the same as we are with the millions of illegal immigrants flooding our borders.

She meant Lauren Boebert.

Yeah, she’s a nut-case
But she would look good in a tube top
Neither Lauren Boebert nor AOC is a Senator. They have to abide by the House dress code.
Just a tube top. And heels. Yes! That works for me. And send them on a tour to motivate the troops!
Oh hell no! She’d probably call them all a bunch of racist colonizers or some dumb shit like that.
But we both know nothing she said would matter dressed like that. Or are you not familiar with our soldiers?
Well, the girls might notice, at least the straight ones serving...
I'd be good with that. Not Collins, though
Lauren Boebert in a tube top? Now that's a rule change I can support.
Word
The US Constitution explicitly states cruel and unusual punishments inflicted are Unconstitutional. Amy Klobuchar in a tube top is cruel and unusual punishment, and possibly a crime against humanity!
That’s correct. Tube tops are like cluster munitions in this context. Geneva Conventions and stuff.

It doesn't matter what clothes he wears.
He was dressing like that before his stroke.
Sort of like George Santos in beach wear.
Or the ultimate fabulist, George Soros, reeking of sulfur.......
It shows their solidarity against Russia.
As far as I know, Soros isn't a member of the House of Representatives, though he could have some influence on the Democrat's side.
John Fetterman looks exactly like the cavemen from The Far Side.
So, let me get his straight: The countries "leaders" have decided to stop dressing PROFESSIONALLY to work. Yet, we still trust them to act professionally in their actions?
No one else seeing the decline (or destruction) of the country here?
https://unorthodoxy.substack.com/p/who-are-the-bad-guys
Or is it just me...?
The "leaders" don't have to dress professionally, but their servants do?
Exactly! The two class system is literally right in front of our faces, but only few can see it
similar to the Met Gala during Covid Times™ when AOC wore the dress...and the attendees were not masked - but all the POC that were serving the better folx were.
Oh. My. Heavenly father!
No. A class system in America?
More seriously, you only see 2 classes? Aha! You done been readin' Marx.
Well, a lot of these politicians don’t seem to take their job seriously, so why shouldn’t they show up to work looking like a bag of ass?
Now, now. There's some very attractive, um, bags of ass.
I think that should be bags of asses. Multiple bags and multiple asses.
I think rather than Mary Poppins, she looks more like Effie Trinket from THE HUNGER GAMES movie.
Given bow she dresses, that photo could have been for real.
Straight jacket for Fetterman. Striped jumpsuit for Menendez. Clown outfits for most other Senators.
