I quite understand if you don't like them anymore, but please, please, don't send them back to Canada. Our current prime minister is cut from the same cloth, and we have enough to cope with trying to survive him.
Skinny, many people in the world loved and still love Diana without realizing how her image was carefully crafted by herself and her team. It is coming out now in bits and pieces without fanfares. And Diana was royal and was pretty much destined to be one by marriage too.
Diana is descended from two illegitimate children of King Charles II. If you look at her family tree, which is available online, she is also connected to Mary, Queen of Scotts. There are numerous links with the royal family.
What most people think of Diana, as a humble, simple and inexperienced young woman, is actually a myth. I read that even her habit of hanging her head down and looking at everyone sideways was explained by her brother not as a sign of shyness but because she was very tall and wanted people to feel more comfortable talking to her LOL.
Wow thank you for info, to me Diana was beautiful, humble, gentle and kind even if it was crafted. She acted like a commoner perhaps that’s what endeared me to her and also she totally annoyed her husband and mother in law, think people loved her for that alone. She was more popular than they were the palace couldn’t handle that.
Yes, that's how we all felt about her. She also closely worked with photographers to create the images we thought were authentic. But she was hardly a commoner. Many even said Charles married up!
He always was authoritarian, funny that people couldn’t see it, and some still can’t even though we know beyond a shadow of doubt that the Chinese govt worked to get him elected the last two times, maybe all 3 elections, who knows since we aren’t allowed to know.
No, just uninformed. I'm from the US, not Canada, so I had no reason to follow him closely or learn too much about him. I knew what the liberal US MSM told me about him, and he seemed charming. But during Covid and also with the child transitions business, it was impossible to miss his authoritarian ways. Then the more I read, the more it was pretty clear he's a total authoritarian. And Canada is worse than the US on wokeness. At least we still have legally protected free speech here.
I'd pay good Bitcoin to have a sample of Justin's DNA and Fidel's. A friend just sent me side-by-side pictures of them, and they look like two peas in a pod.
Give them a room at Buckingham Palace, then send Charles and Camilla on a DEI course, they can have practice sessions around the dinner table. I’m sure Charles’s love for his son is as strong as Biden’s is for his son. They can mend fences, live happily ever after and give Americans a break we have so much shit going down here.
You know, California has enough problems. It's quite unfair that Californians are burdened with these two. Perhaps Alaska may take them? There's lots of space and air, things that Harry and Meghan seem to consume in outsize quantities. But then there's the problem of the toxicity that they release...
Personally, I'd take Harry over Justin, but then we'd be stuck with melodramatic Megan in place of quiet Sophie, so it's kind of a wash as far as I can see.
And indeed a far more accurate depiction than this vapid hagiography. No, the world did not "fall in love" with these two pathological narcissists. Rather, the media thrust them on us and saturated the popular culture with their incessant naval-gazing and whinging over how oppressed and marginalized they are.
Agreed that it's time to take out the trash. I must admit that I, too, was enamored with them, especially Meghan, when they became engaged and married. It seemed as if the British Royal Family was becoming more modern. What a miscalculation that was.
Sort of like the USA voting for the first black president.. Obama, and how that was a game changer for us..well it surely was..his rhetoric put race relations back about 75 years!
Note the hokey carriage ride around the quadrangle with a gushing crowd near the chapel entrance, a dwindling bunch of hangers-on the second leg, and no one on the third.
The image epitomizes what Harry and Meghan have seen happen to their lives.
It is, of course, their own fault. Had they chosen to take some well-offered advice from their staff, they might still be enjoying free money from the Crown Estates and admiration from the public.
Yes, but Meghan was not happy with living a millionaire's lifestyle. Meghan didn't like living at Frogmore Cottage; it wasn't grand enough to suit her tastes. She complained that she was not paid for the work she was doing for the Crown. She wanted to be the star, something she would never be able to achieve - the monarchy is a hierarchy and Harry and Meghan would never achieve the status or importance of William and Kate. King Charles paid for her ~$40 million wedding, gave her a £15,000 bracelet as a present from the Royal Family and they were living a more than exclusive lifestyle. But this was not good enough for Madam Markle. She's just insipid. It's that simple. She disrespects the Royal Family and does nothing for the Crown, yet she insists on keeping the "Duchess of Sussex" title. If Markle was honorable, she'd return that title, as should Harry.
Yes I never fell in love with these two. This author is unfortunately a slave to identity politics. She loved them because Meghan was bi-racial and because she initially ignored her narcissistic virtue signaling persona. She also mocked the previous women Harry had dated because they were white and upper class. Sounds a lot like judging someone on the color of their skin without regard to their character. Ms. Froelich helped create the little woke monsters she now skewers with her own woke adoration of color over character.
I didn't like her effusive adoration and exaggeration of how popular Meghan was: "the world fell in love with her" (no they didn't) and "Americans couldn't get enough." Actually the majority of Americans I heard from thought she was a self promoting, virtue signaling activist who was preying on Harry's naivete and she proved them right. I also looked into Harry's ex flings and steady girlfriends and thought it horribly condescending for her to refer to them as a bunch of leggy trust fund blondes. Many of the girls he dated were very educated and accomplished and were "working women" like Meghan. It was obvious to me that the author valued Meghan's mixed race status because she had bought into the woke identity politics agenda that has permeated our culture. I found her statement that all of Europe hoped that the royal couple would usher in a new era and face of a "Lilly White" monarchy offensive and racist. Is there something inherently repugnant about an all white monarchy or an all white family. Does one purge their white guilt and gain identity points when they infuse their Lily White bloodline with some color. I didn't know a thing about this author before I made my comments. I presumed nothing about her but rather, relied on things she wrote to arrive at my conclusions.
I confess that I did fall in love with Meghan and genuinely thought the BRF was ushering in a new era. She was not only American, but of mixed race. It seemed so modern. However, you were spot on - she was, and is, "a self promoting, virtue signaling activist who was preying on Harry's naivete". It is condescending to refer to Harry's former girlfriends as "leggy trust fund blondes", although, let's face it, they were all that - but, indeed, they were so much more, too. You are correct, James Martin; there is, nor should there be, "something inherently repugnant about an all white monarchy or an all white family", nor would we consider an all black African royal family repugnant.
Thanks you for your feedback and open and honest dialogue. I think most white people and most men have, out of misguided shame and guilt, have been slow to call out the anti white and anti male rhetoric that now permeates almost all of our institutions; our schools, the MSM, and now our corporations and military. These poisonous and racist double standards have been festering for decades, but are now firmly entrenched within our Ibram X Kendi/Robin DiAngelo "anti racist" culture; or should I say "anti white racist" culture. These racist bullies hope to succeed in silencing white resistance to their hatred by mocking whites with terms like "white privilege," "white tears," and "white fragility." No other race or ethnicity would tolerate these blatant and Democrat Party supported racist attacks on their culture or race; and no I'm not a white supremacist for defending my race, my family, and my person. My comments aren't coming from some white extremist. I'm a 67 year old left of center Independent/Democrat who now sees the Party he's voted for 80-90 percent of his life become the most dangerous U.S. Party in American history; and the only thing necessary for the triumph of this kind of totalitarian evil is for good men and women like us to do nothing.
What concerns me...bothers me to the upmost...are all of those that made impossible to criticize these grifters.
What sealed the deal for me was Meghan and Harry's meltdown over Meghan's desire to wear a tiara that had serious political implications as to the source(s) of the gems in the piece. Harry's ''whatever Meghan wants, Meghan gets'' screed let me understand that everything was going to be all about them.
And, then when Meghan and Harry began complaining about Charles (who had been nothing but gracious and financially forthcoming) and The Firm, I quite comfortably wrote them off.
Holding my breath waiting for TPF to publish “The Fall of Hunter and Joe, Inc.” based on the daily revelations of the massive influence peddling and outright extortion committed by the current President of the United States, his son, his brothers, and other members of the family, aided by the FBI and the DOJ. Bari, show us you are a real journalist and committed to the real truth and publish real news that only half of the country is hearing.
This is the single biggest test of journalistic integrity The Free Press has faced yet.
You cannot ignore a story of this magnitude. We've never before had a president so nakedly corrupt, with half the country determined to protect him at all costs purely for The Party.
Where is the "Never Biden" movement among Dems? Where are the Democrats with integrity?
What do you like the sound of? Anyone is better than Donald J. Trump. The regrettable fact is that we don't have any good choices. I'm thinking Kennedy may be the way to go.
Hi! Theresa, You ask interesting question to which I reply would Biden get yours?!
Please note that I am not a US citizen so I cannot vote in your country - I assume you are American? (although it appears that there are plenty of non citizens who are being registered to vote so maybe I should drop by and cast my ballot!)
Anyway to give you my hypothetical answer Yes! I feel that either candidate you mention is preferable to your current president. BUT I would also like to add that back in 2016 I would not have voted for Trump or Hillary.(again a hypothetical answer)
However, in 2020 I would have voted for Trump based on his policies, to give a few examples, school choice, moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, some of his prison reforms and foreign policy etc.
Also you have to take into account the fact that my hypothetical choice is based on what is best for me and the region I live in, where US foreign policy plays a strategic role - not everything about choosing a leader is about what happens at home. The US has a diverse population and many voters I am sure, think about foreign policy implications when they vote.
In my defense, for I feel that your question is a loaded one and there is a need to defend my position (I could be wrong and you could be wearing a MAGA cap as I type this!) I consider my self to be non-binary as a voter and would register as independent. I am a paid subscriber to Tulsi Gabbard on the LOCALS platform She was until recently a Democrat. Things are rarely black and white but complicated shades of grey on that I am sure we can agree!
I love America. I have lived there several times totaling more than 12 years in all, in the 1980s 1990s and 2000’s. Both my kids went to university there.
I can only wish America the best and hope that the current divisions that are tearing the country apart can be healed, for as Lincoln said “a house divided cannot stand”.
Thank you for your thoughtful response. To be clear, you'll never see me in a MAGA hat and it's upsetting enough seeing vehicles with "Let's Go Brandon" stickers. Yes, Joe Biden has many flaws. He surely is not a stellar candidate. May I also add that I'm glad you are unable to cast a vote in the 2024 election? It's nothing personal; you seem like a nice, educated person. But imho, there is no one worse than Donald J. Trump. He's mentally unstable. For anyone who thought that those of us, terribly disappointed that "Trump won", were overreacting in November, 2016, just look at the damage he's done. MAGA = lunacy. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to reply to me. I felt your reply was emotional rather than factual. I’d love hear for example your views on free school choice for parents. Trump was for making it easier for parents to decide where to send their kids to school. While the Obamas worked to block this - which I found a tad hypocritical since they were sending their girls to the finest private schools in the DC area that money could buy.
I try not to do amorphous criticism rather base my comments on inconsistencies I see between what people say and what they do.
Michelle Obama has talked about white racism yet she bought a house in Martha’s Vineyard a predominantly white neighbourhood.
I understand your abhorrence of Trump but feel it’s is based on superficialities rather than substance. Wishing you the best as you make your choice in the next election but the pickings are thin on the Democratic side right now.
Since you're Never Biden, which Democrat would you accept as President? Or is there any Democrat that would make your list? If you can't think of a single one, then you're not Never Biden, you're Never Not Republican, a critical difference.
My "Never Biden" remark was in reference to Democrats making a stand against corruption the way the Never Trumpers did. It's not relevant to me as a Republican. You fundamentally missed my point.
Also, if RFK wins the D nomination I will vote for him, because restoring truth and integrity to the government is my number one concern, especially in the wake of the COVID atrocities.
Thanks for this, Anthony, and I'm sorry I missed your point. With national politics being as grift-ridden as they are, I'm afraid we'd have to go "Never Nobody" to make any dent in the problem of finding good leadership.
Shane, I will never vote Democrat. I don't care who they run for President. The party has move too far to the left for me.
They have active communists in the party. One chairs the Senate Budget Committee. They support the woke movement. They support gender identity classes in K through 3 grades. A kindergartener has no idea what they are talking about. They support schools helping kids get abortions and encouraging kids on gender matters without telling the parents. They support the teaching of CRT in schools. They support open borders.
I could go on and on about why I will never vote for them.
I am not fond of the Republicans. Both parties are heavily populated with idiots but I think the Reps have more than their fair share. However, I will vote for the Reps because I think they are less toxic and hateful than the Dems.
Just look at how the west coast states are spiraling into anarchy. People can't leave these states fast enough.
Look at the cities with the highest murder rates. They are all run by Dems and have been for decades. Look at how the states and cities that were burnt and looted by the communist thugs ANTIFA and BLM. The worst destruction was in Dem led states and cities. Hell in Seattle these thugs took over downtown Seattle and the Dem mayor nor the Dem governor did nothing to stop these communist anarchists.
I have a dear friend who would vote for Charley Manson if he had a D behind his name. I don't understand that kind of blind loyalty for any party.
I know you won't touch a Democrat, Lonesome, and I respect your reasons for not doing so. You are equally hard on Trump and some of his MAGA cultists (meaning not all MAGAs are cultists), so you come by it honestly.
Since I wouldn't vote for Trump if he had a D behind his name, I would hope I consider the candidate, not the party, when I vote.
Perhaps the realization that Harry & his wife are grifters will allow folks to focus on the two grifters that actually impact the average American’s life...Biden & Trump. At this point I’ll vote for anyone who isn’t either of them! Scott...DeSantis...Newsom...Mayor Adams for God’s sake!
Please! Not Newsom! He is Biden with charm and a knack for smooth deception. He has destroyed California and my friends who still live there are in despair. I would vote for Kennedy, IF he abandoned the Party. If he, by a miracle, won, the Party would get to him, too.
California has had some of the toughest gun laws in the nation for well over thirty years, but implementation is lax and inconsistent at best. As a teacher, I have seen one student be expelled for bringing a potato gun to school well after hours and another be suspended for three days for firing a real gun out of a school bus window just as it was pulling out of the parking lot. My husband had to fill out a four-page affidavit to pick up an 1875 wall-hanger, but one of my students that same year came up with a gun within hours when threatened by members of a rival gang (he killed an innocent bystander that evening). One of my former students told me he could still get a gun with one phone call - no problem (this was one of the few who had managed to escape gang life).
If we don't teach our children empathy and compassion, tolerance and anger management, personal responsibility and ethics, all the gun laws in the world will not put an end to this type of violence. But where's the political clout in that?
I always love listening to Harold Ford Jr. He's an old school Dem. I could accept Tulsi Gabbard or RFK, although he's very hard to listen to. (Perhaps he has a physical disorder, I don't mean to be offensive. But I literally can't stand the sound of his voice...and I'm very interested in what he has to say)
They're not scared of Trump, he's literally the only thing they have to run on. At this point they've betrayed everything the Democratic party used to be, and their entire strategy is to motivate their voting base with fear and hatred of Trump. He's their biggest ally.
What about what about? You brought up Trump in this thread, Anthony, I didn't. I only responded to what you and Skinny wrote about him.
As for my other comments on this thread, I use Whatabouts when the writer insists a Republican was treated worse than a Democrat in the same circumstances. For instance, "Crackhead Hunter Biden got off with a wrist slap because of Drooling Diaper Joe! So corrupt!" That prompted me to bring up Roger Stone, the deep-Trump Republican who evaded ten times the taxes Hunter Biden did, yet received a DOJ deal far more lenient. Hunter had to plead guilty to criminal charges and pay the taxes and penalties. Stone only had to pay the taxes and penalties, no pleading guilty to a crime.
"Whataboutism" is perfectly appropriate when the commenter insists the other tribe gets the gold mine while his or hers gets the shaft.
I'm still right on Trump's unhinged rants. He's playing right into the Democratic election handbook by going all-caps nuclear when they needle him. Every eruption costs him votes in the general. Fine by me because I want him gone--I'm not shy about my feelings about Trump--but it's a stupid strategy for a guy who claims he wants to win next fall.
Yes it would be nice to see it reported that nine members of the Biden family are receiving money from China. It would be nice to have someone point out that on the infamous laptop are pictures of Hunter naked with a naked young girl.
Don't worry. In her Friday column Nellie will snarkily comment on it (for the purpose of getting a laugh and a couple pats on the back for even mentioning it), and then it will be forgotten.
I love TFP (and Nellie too) but their blind eye to all this has been extremely disappointing.
Sadly, the blind eye is getting blinder. Especially Nellie's. She tends to use snark to make a brief nod to the truth, and then she runs back to her safe space.
How do you know that "nine members of the Bidebn family are receiving money from China" if it was not reported? Ditto the "naked young girl" report. Where did you learn this information if not from some reporter somewhere, and how did you know to trust the reports were true?
Also, Trump's children seem awash in similar grifting, so where's the outrage among MAGA for that?
Hi Shane, I’m afraid I can’t cover all the outrage I have over politicians in one comment. I don’t speak for MAGA or anyone but myself. But you do raise important points because I don’t believe anything unless I feel like it’s viable research or I see it myself. There’s so much nonsense and untruth out there so you’re right to ask that. I saw the picture along with his crack pictures. It’s easy to find on verifiable sites. I give a boulder of salt to a lot of stuff but that one I can’t forget. The nine members of Biden’s family were identified by the House oversight committee. It’s been documented on msn.com, cnn, etc. Here is one article but an easy google search will show you more: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/nine-biden-family-members-who-allegedly-got-foreign-money-identified-by-house-gop/ar-AA1b0bXX
As for me, I am no fan of either political party at this point.
"I’m afraid I can’t cover all the outrage I have over politicians in one comment."
Hi, Amy. I feel your pain, as I feel the same way--politics, which always had grifters and criminals but they were far more contained, has devolved into a capital city full of :"Fuck you, where's mine???" I'm not defending the Biden family--if they're guilty, off to the hoosegow they should go--but I have to reserve judgement until I can read the details in court charging documents. Until then, it's hard to know what to believe and disbelieve, there is so much spin and propaganda going on from all parts of the political spectrum.
I mention Trump's kids because this board is so heavily anto-Biden that we need to remember that grifting is the family business for Republicans as well as Democrats.
We deserve far better leadership, but won't get it until we start rewarding competence, not showmanship, in office. Thanks for writing, I agree with you across the board.
There was a microscope up every member of Trump’s family and organizations for nearly a decade. His accountant is in jail because he didn’t claim college tuition the company paid for his kids. If there was anything remotely akin to this you would have seen it by now. And if those ever appear I’ll condemn them just as hard.
But please, stop trying to “whatabout” factual, evidence based charges against your imagination. You’re not fooling anyone.
Any "whataboutism" I might employ pales in comparison to the Everest of whataboutism erupting from Trumpland over his factual, evidence-based federal indictment for espionage and insurrection: "What about Hillary?????????"
And the deal offered to Hunter Biden, to plead guilty to tax evasion in exchange for no prison time? That brought so many MAGA tears I thought I would drown in the flood. Yet, Trump consigliere Roger Stone and his wife were offered pleas for evading ten times the amount of taxes, and they didn't even have to admit to a crime, just pay the bill.
How do we know Biden received money from China? We won't until a thorough investigation is complete...unlikely with the DOJ roadblocking work by the FBI. You should have watched the whistleblower live with Brett Baier last evening.
And unlike the Bidens, the Trumps had real jobs in the private sector.
Additionally, there is nothing to suggest they sold access to DJT when he was in office. Furthermore, Robert Mueller spent 2+ years and $40M investigating the Trumps and found zip on them.
This would be the same "roadblocking DOJ" that negotiated a plea deal for tax evasion from Hunter Biden, in which he had to admit to a crime in exchange for no prison? The same DOJ that went so light on Trump pal Roger Stone for tax evasion ten times as large as Biden's, yet only had to pay the back taxes and fine, DOJ required no plea to criminal charges?
Public sector employment is just as real, and legitimate, as private sector. Some are lumberjacks, some are senators, some are writers, some are cops, it's all good. One is not more lofty and moral than the other.
In the specific you mention, "real jobs in the private sector" are easy when you work for Billionaire Dad, who gave the kids and their hubbies/boyfriends cushy no-work jobs on the campaign as a bonus.
Russiagate and the Pee Tapes were based on a whistleblower, too, and we see how real those turned out to be. Sorry, but watching a whistleblower on Bret Baier OR Rachel Maddow does not make me swoon with conviction. Give me court documents that are filed under risk of perjury, then we can talk. All else is politics.
I almost don't know where to begin responding to your comments.....
1) Yes, public sector jobs are real and legitimate as private sector (did I say they are not?), but don't try to tell us that you can become a multi, multi millionaire working for the government, pal. (Unless you're engaged in illegal activity somewhere, like Nancy Pelosi.)
2) Maybe the DOJ went light on Roger Stone because they had a weak case. Few care because it was Trump who they were after. Spend 3 years & $40M investigating ANYONE and you're likely to find a crime somewhere. Congratulations, but still nothing from Mueller on Trump.
3) Just because most people aren't born to wealthy billionaires, like the Trumps & Kennedys, is your politics of envy going to hold that forever against the children? Sleep easy on that one, buddy.
Lastly) Watching a whistleblower alone, anywhere means nothing until you consider what substance, if any, they provide.
1. "Did I say they are not?" Yes, you did, by implying that Trump was better because he worked in the private sector. The sector you work in doesn't mean squat.
2. The vast majority of public sector workers do not become billionaires, or even millionaires. Who rakes in the dough? Only those in the highest profile public jobs: elected national office. They get campaign funding, speaking tours, book tours, consultancies, vacations on billionaires' airplanes, and other money-drenched opportunities because the private sector is seeking favors from them. The hoi polloi in both sectors buy and sell each other like two-for-one Tuesdays at the Golden Corral. And it's all legal. Which is another problem, the legal bribery of politicians by the private sector.
3. "Spend 3 years & $40M investigating ANYONE and you're likely to find a crime somewhere." GOP spent more time and money then that giving Hillary a political rectal exam and didn't find a crime. Ditto the exam given Trump on Russiagate and the Pee Tapes. Most political "investigations" are expensive, virtue-signaling shams, whether conducted by GOP or DEM.
4. Weak case against Roger Stone? My reading says they had him and his wife solidly to rights. But the DOJ routinely goes lightly on politicians of both parties, not just on The Biden Family (tm).
5. What politics of envy? I have plenty of dough, they should envy me. My point is that you're jonesing for more investigation of the Biden kids, so it's perfectly legitimate of me to pump for more investigation of the Trump kids--multibillion-dollar deals by Jared Kushner while his FIL was president, anyone? You want to drop all investigations into all the presidential kids? Fine by me. But do it for everyone, not selectively.
If you retire at 65 with $100,000 pension guaranteed for life with inflation adjustments and with survivorship benefits for your spouse, then you have a multi-million (not multi-multi) dollar asset. Many govt employees get this AND they did not pay tax on the accumulation of this benefit.
They all (Taibbi, Shellenberger, Fang, et al) criticized Musk after he cut off Twitter links to Substack. She has said very little, if anything, in support of that group’s work since her initial report last Fall. And I believe the reason is that the subject became to radioactive for her.
Even if thefp investigates, it take weeks just to get all the facts and clear the contents with the lawyers. You don’t go after a sitting president half cocked. There is enough stories on hunter from fox news
Can’t we break into their what’s app messages or force their lawyers to forgo their client confidentiality agreements or even better do we not have recorded tapes or any AÍ impersonations of the Biden family? It’s been done plenty times before. Mind you it will be difficult to decipher Brandon’s crap.
I wouldn't hold your breath too long lest you pass out. I don't expect to see that here anytime soon. While this site in called The "Free" Press, it is already turning into the "New York Times lite".
Hey thanks for this, Jim...I got tired of saying it.
Spoler alert: Bari has already proved that she most definitely is not "a real journalist." Were it so, she would have been covering the Biden Crime Family Bribery Scandal months ago. She takes her orders from headquarters, like every other mainstream "journalist." But she plays the role of the independent.
We’ll be lucky to get a story from Bari about the Biden’s misdeeds. Maybe the week after the DOJ tidies up the big mess by reducing everything down to misdemeanors allowing Joe and his depraved son to avoid punishment and keep up appearances at fundraisers and galas put on by ass kissing toadies. They’ll even get to keep the ill-gotten loot. They, like Meghan and Harry, are the toppest of top notch grifters. Bari can claim the “not enough evidence to go ahead with the story” and how in the end it was a “high tech right wing witch hunt to take down a decent man and loving father” nonsense the craven lefty media pukes up to shield their beloved democracy saver. Trump really has short circuited the thinking process for many who write and report for a living.
Just another screed by a fool who has been taken. Zzzzzzzzz.................As if it wasn't always clear that something was seriously amiss in this charade.
If Harry had been smart he'd have taken the pick of "his usual choice of leggy, trust-funded blondes" and lived a happy life as another royal descending down the chain with each new niece or nephew. Instead he's condemned to a life as the butt of jokes for being the cuck of a completely self-absorbed harridan. Some "fairy tale."
I totally agree. This author sounds a bit like that black actress Adjoa Andoh who complained about an all-white monarchy during Charles' coronation. Jeesh -- who cares. As if a shallow, self-absorbed, social-climbing grifter like Megan should be promoted to fulfill a DEI quota at Buckingham palace. I'd much rather see a leggy trust find blonde there. At least that type of person is more likely to understand the real meaning of "class."
Unfortunately, even smart questioning types fell for them based on the Oprah interview. I actually lost a Journalist friend bc.I told her that I thought Meghan was a phony, whining abt. her mental health problems and not having enough $$$$.
My friend responded with a long email to me, asking how I could be so unfeeling especially since I had worked as a therapist and some other personal family issues I won’t go into.
Meghan is a professional actress. She can cry on a dime.
That is accurate for the world of Millennials as I have witnessed with my kids. However I don’t think it is fair to say abt. Boomers. We came of age where there was much more Tolerance for differences in people you could have as friends.
There are people who never experienced it in their lives? Everyone has experienced injustice. The problem is young people are seeking safe places where they can never encounter a person who thinks differently or may simply look sideways on them. Everything is unjustice to them.
The Oprah interview is where I lost any remaining respect I had for them. We had an interview where Meghan, who is literal royalty, told billionaire Oprah how "oppressed" she was and that we're supposed to feel sorry for her.
Exactly. This article is a few years too late. To any person who looked at them without adoration simply because she is biracial, it was always all too obvious. The woman never was or is natural. Any second she is recorded or photographed she is acting. Acting in a soap opera about royal family drama and money. Any article published about them now can hardly be considered a revelation. FP could find more serious topics.
A good portion of us did root for Meghan when she married Haz. It was exciting to see an American of mixed race marry into the BRF. It was so rare. It was as if the monarchy was stepping into the new century. But Madame Markle turned out to be, umm, less than desirable in her new role. Americans, with a the exception of very few, were disgusted by her entitlement. King Charles III, then Prince of Wales, did everything to make her feel welcome, including walking her down the aisle when her own father could/would not.
What’s sad about this is what could have been. Meghan and Harry could have been selfless and humble servants of the people in the UK, truly helping the Commonwealth which has people of all nationalities and “people of color,” and inspiring minorities in Britain. This is why I admire Catherine and William, and Sophie and Edward, and above all, Princess Anne. Yes, they are wealthy by reason of birth (although Catherine and Sophie were middle class who married in), but they work VERY hard at serving the people in their country and ALWAYS put the focus on others.
Grifter is the perfect word for H & M and I wonder when she will file for divorce.
I follow Catherine and William on social media and it seems as if they have 2-3 engagements a week. Harry and Megan show up for awards. What a difference.
And when the alms runs dry and she files for divorce she’ll blame him for not being supportive or putting in the work. “We grew apart” she’ll sigh as she goes after every penny she can wring out of him. Since her first “breaking up with the royals” drama failed miserably Plan B will be documenting her own breakup and pitching it to the highest bidder. She and Harry deserve each other.
Lots of people misunderstand the purpose of the British royal family. They are the UK equivalent of Mike Rowe.
Rowe goes into workplaces where people get dirty, where the work is physically demanding, where workers are sweaty and exhausted by the end of the day, but where people outside that workplace have little regard for what they do; and Rowe shows how important the work they do is, how clever the workers are who do it, and how much they--and others like them Rowe doesn't get to showcase--deserve our recognition.
That's what the royals do too. To someone who doesn't understand, it's all silly and pointless. It's just traveling for miles to shake a few hands and pull a curtain open. But, they go to a workplace, a charity, school, or community center; and for one hour, the people there get to show the camera the important work they are doing. For one hour, they have the spotlight aimed at them and are told that someone recognizes them and knows their importance. For one hour, the commoners get to be the center of attention.
Markle, and even Harry, never seemed to understand that. Markle has been quoted as wondering why she wasn't getting paid for things like this. What she, in particular, couldn't understand was she wasn't the star of the show during an appearance. Her job was to bring the cameras and the media, and then point at the people around her and say: film them!
As for Rowe, we talk about the Kennedys or the Clintons, or the Obamas as America's royalty, but because he is much closer to doing what the British royals actually do, Rowe's our real royalty. (I'll take him over Harry any day!)
Very well stated, and 💯% correct. For all of their flaws, they are well aware of their roles. It’s the price they pay for their riches. Meghan doesn’t understand that. Not sure Harry does either.
Americans couldn’t get enough of Harry and Meghan?
Harry won us all over?
Huh? She must mean the shrunken universe of People Magazine readers.
I’m guilty of schadenfreude while observing, somewhat indifferently, the bloom go off the rose for these grifters.
BTW - about that opening: Some Americans DON’T “truly care about” the “hard work” that this couple has “shirked.” Doesn’t this writer know that hard work is racist?
I like Bari eclectic choice of articles. On this BBS we live and breath politics. It's nice to see something else even if it is something as unimportant as the Royals. It's a nice break.
I never understood why people follow celebrities or watch "real Housewife" shows or "reality" shows, that are staged and called reality. I think most celebrities are vacuous jerks and that includes the royals.
I could give a shit what some Hollywood puke or Harry and Megan are saying or doing. I have better things to do like watching paint dry or grass grow.
I hate to say it (well, not really) but most of the people I know that watch those shows or cared about these 2 have been women.
Any celebrities I have looked up to were for something they did, not said. Weather that be the talents that made them famous, their work ethic, or how the treated their co-workers. Someone like Keanu Reeves. These dim bulbs? Not so much. What have they done to deserve any praise?
Aren't movies "staged and called reality?" I was - no longer - a devotee of all of the happy ever after movies. I didn't know Rock and Doris wouldn't live happily ever after for reasons I knew only years later. I saw an American in Paris when I was 14 and was sure I would dance with Gene Kelly the minute I got there. There were no "reality" movies of Rock being gay or Doris being swindled out of all her money by her husband. We had to wait for the French new wave and the English kitchen sink movies to show us the other side of life and they were called "art" movies that you had to seek out - they didn't run in the local multi-plex.
You could also look at it as a sign that policital things can get better. If people can eventually see through these idiots, maybe the same can be said of the ones in Washington
Hmmmm ... 70 million of our Lovers of Roll Up Our Sleeves and Do Hard Work and Also Family and Law n Order would vote again for a multi-affair, multi-divorce, career grifter and criminal ... hmmm ... what to make of this? Tis a conundrum, Jim :-)
Eh, most would beg to differ after seeing you leap from the convo about H&M to DJT. That's the hallmark of TDS. No one should take up that much space in someone's mind.
My sentiments exactly. I've no interest in Harry an Megyn. Making money off of them is not a respectable way to make a living.
Expose the lies of PBS reporting and their extremely left activism. And who they interview. I'm thinking about the jaw-dropping interview with Bob Witeck from Witeck Communications early this week.
There needs to be more exposure of the left's rhetoric. It's incessant and dominates daily.
What's more, the Oprah interview came while we were technically still in the midst of a "pandemic." Didn't love H & M to begin with, but that's the moment when I wrote those two narcissists off for good (as well as the sycophants who gave them airtime).
So a slavish star fxxker turns on the target of her desire. Those first few paragraphs were embarrassing in their tongue bathing. Oh, and kudos on slipping in a dissing reference to Melania, whom we know you just hate with the heat of a thousand suns because it was so random and pointed.
Never heard of this author. A little research shows she’s a colleague of Chris Cuomo, that even CNN couldn’t stand.
I quite understand if you don't like them anymore, but please, please, don't send them back to Canada. Our current prime minister is cut from the same cloth, and we have enough to cope with trying to survive him.
Yeah, he's another one I used to love but who has revealed his true colors. In fact, he's way worse. He's so authoritarian!
Did you see the altercation on the floor of Parliament? What a ahole
as a Canadian who now lives in the US and is blissfully unaware of shenanigans in the GWN, please do tell!
Total a..hole!
And apparently he’s indifferent to his country burning down!
Please send a link of this. Guy is a total creep.
I think he's referring to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lg3f0Ae8V3o&ab_channel=CTVNews
Never loved the Royals only Princess Diana, and then clearly she wasn’t a royal.
I’m genuinely curious, did you want to be fooled?
No, just uninformed. I'm from the US, not Canada, so I had no reason to follow him closely or learn too much about him. I knew what the liberal US MSM told me about him, and he seemed charming. But during Covid and also with the child transitions business, it was impossible to miss his authoritarian ways. Then the more I read, the more it was pretty clear he's a total authoritarian. And Canada is worse than the US on wokeness. At least we still have legally protected free speech here.
Correct. Our zealots point out that free speech is an American concept.
Of course it’s a human right, but a government owned and operated by the Chinese government has no use for human rights or free speech.
We are so screwed.
My goal is that we one day have a canadian govt again.
I hope you can prevent the same from occurring in the USA.
Justin's mixed-race, too? I didn't know Fidel was minority stock.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Nobody can produce any evidence that he wasn’t either.
I'd pay good Bitcoin to have a sample of Justin's DNA and Fidel's. A friend just sent me side-by-side pictures of them, and they look like two peas in a pod.
If Pol Pot had sex with Liberace their child would be Justin Trudeau.
Also, why haven’t I seen ‘Truck Fudeau’ bumper stickers?
Because in Canada, they would confiscate your car, seize your bank accounts and get you fired from your job.
Lots of those bumper stickers here in Alberta
Look, if we have to breath your toxic forest fire air, it's only fair that you have to take these two knuckleheads back.
Both are quite talented at dissing others.....and that tends to unravel marriage. I’d give them 18 months.
I think send them back to Britain, we clearly all sick of them here in America!
They do not want them! Where would they live? They no longer have Frogmore.
Oh God where do we put these two people!
The place for a-holes is a hole in the ground, surely?
That’s a bit harsh I think
Will you at least accept Seth Rogan?
Nope he gets on my nerves!
Personally, I'd take Harry over Justin, but then we'd be stuck with melodramatic Megan in place of quiet Sophie, so it's kind of a wash as far as I can see.
We can thank South Park’s “Worldwide Privacy Tour” for making it permissible, finally, to criticize these dishonest, venal grifters.
I got a kick out of how the Meghan character is never referred to as a princess or duchess. It’s just “the Prince of Canada and his wife.”
😂😂😂
And indeed a far more accurate depiction than this vapid hagiography. No, the world did not "fall in love" with these two pathological narcissists. Rather, the media thrust them on us and saturated the popular culture with their incessant naval-gazing and whinging over how oppressed and marginalized they are.
Time to take out the trash.
I don't recall ever "falling in love" with them. I took her to be a race-obsessed, attention-seeking grifter from the beginning.
They were thrust upon us by the media and we were expected to marvel at how progressive they were.
That wedding was a farce.
See feet. Shoot feet. Claim selves as victims.
Wow, James, that sounds so presumptuous. What am I missing?
Hagiography. Well done.
An excellent episode.
One of their best episodes EVER.
I wasn't aware needed permission.
Really really funny.
Never Biden - I like the sound of that.
I thought that's what "Let's go Branden" was?
You’re right! And I have the t-shirt too! But Never Biden …. I kinda like it! Time for another t-shirt maybe
Buy, Buy Biden...... because you can buy him and we want him to go by by
No, that's a Republican chant, not a Democrat movement.
Why conflate one stupidity with the other?
#NeverTrump
What do you like the sound of? Anyone is better than Donald J. Trump. The regrettable fact is that we don't have any good choices. I'm thinking Kennedy may be the way to go.
Would Trump get your vote? DeSantis?
I have always wondered this. I thought the guy was a grifting idiot in the 80s.
He was.. He is the same no talent guy now he was in the Senate except now he is senile.
He was. He’s always been a stooge, a gaffe machine, but he’s left of center so protected.
Maybe someone can explain it to me.
Please...you're MAGA.
Same RFK for the win!
I like Pat Paulson
Or maybe Tiny Tim. He plays the ukulele
They'd bring more class to the joint than recent occupants :-)
and he is sort of trans
I like Snoopy. #Snoopy2024
Me too.
OK, Tom, you are really dating yourself with those references...I love it.
Yeah, time for another Paulson run...very funny guy.
I am old. I wear my trousers rolled.
Smile.
What's your take on Newsom's 28th Amendment proposal?
It's a political move.
DeSantis doesn't disturb you at all? He's managed to alienate Libs and Conservatives.
RFK Jr
I think he blew it today with his take on the AA ruling.
I hope you can untwist from that logic without injuring yourself.
"Democrats with integrity" What a concept.
They shit scared of President Trump, that’s what Democrats integrity looks like
They're not scared of Trump, he's literally the only thing they have to run on. At this point they've betrayed everything the Democratic party used to be, and their entire strategy is to motivate their voting base with fear and hatred of Trump. He's their biggest ally.
And Trump plays right into it with his screeching WITCH HUNTZ, so who's dumber, Dems or him?
But what about Trump!! What about what about what about???
Please go back through your comments on this thread and think about how you're behaving exactly the way you accuse corrupt Republicans of behaving.
Don’t love Nellie and I don’t believe she will mention it in TGIF.
You're not fooling anyone, either.
Agreed, grifting is what unifies both parties, haha. It’s a Republican and Democrat problem for sure.
Thank you Amy so well posted.
234 you’re my human😄😄
Not going to happen. Bari lost her edge. The backing away from the Twitter Files was the clincher for me. I have unsubscribed.
Same here. Something changed.
She didn't back away though. Elon snubbed her after she made a milquetoast criticism against him.
They all (Taibbi, Shellenberger, Fang, et al) criticized Musk after he cut off Twitter links to Substack. She has said very little, if anything, in support of that group’s work since her initial report last Fall. And I believe the reason is that the subject became to radioactive for her.
Mine ends tomorrow.
Mine in October I’m off TFP, I’ll miss you Alice K wish you luck!
Even if thefp investigates, it take weeks just to get all the facts and clear the contents with the lawyers. You don’t go after a sitting president half cocked. There is enough stories on hunter from fox news
Oh please. Even a reprise of the stories out there would be welcome.
You will be waiting forever. They are "protected class" like Hillary and most of the Obama administration.
Love your comic strip, man.
Don’t hold your breath!
Excellent.
Spot on!
I think Harry is a classic example of a man who lives at the end of a short leash, tethered there because … well, any guy with a libido gets it.
Oh so evolving into the classic beta male is the new way to attract women?
Brave new world?
Omega male, more likely. If Harry is the model, then the future for men is rather bleak.
God forbid if you have that "toxic Masculinity" going for you!
I fear that there’s a LOT more truth to your quip than anyone would like to admit!
Ok. He's whipped.
I think the blond leggy chicks world wide know what a smuck Harry is,they truly deserve each other.
Wow. So much to unpack here...
So much to unpack here....
So just pack up.
And leave.
Your comment re: Megan and Harry has so many levels, Bruce.
Are you saying I have depth Prof?
"If it ain't white, it ain't right." ;)
Why white conservatives are so unfairly maligned, I'll never know. The eternal mystery.
Harry and Meghan both appear to have wholly unwarranted sense of entitlement. Nothing pisses people off more than that.
I think the word you are looking for is "privilege."
Of course, being mixed race, she has less of that, than a white "cis" male coal miner, correct?
Yip correct 😂😂
I came straight to the comments because, well, WHAT KIND OF BANANAHEAD EVER ROOTED FOR THESE TWO PARASITIC CLOWNS???
Unfortunately, even smart questioning types fell for them based on the Oprah interview. I actually lost a Journalist friend bc.I told her that I thought Meghan was a phony, whining abt. her mental health problems and not having enough $$$$.
My friend responded with a long email to me, asking how I could be so unfeeling especially since I had worked as a therapist and some other personal family issues I won’t go into.
Meghan is a professional actress. She can cry on a dime.
Good riddance to that "friend"
You lost a friend because of this?! Thats horrible!
“Friends” aren’t quite what they used to be.
That is accurate for the world of Millennials as I have witnessed with my kids. However I don’t think it is fair to say abt. Boomers. We came of age where there was much more Tolerance for differences in people you could have as friends.
True. And a good one. A decent person. I think The Couple touched a nerve in people who feel they have experienced injustice ( not just racial)
There are people who never experienced it in their lives? Everyone has experienced injustice. The problem is young people are seeking safe places where they can never encounter a person who thinks differently or may simply look sideways on them. Everything is unjustice to them.
Somewhere along the line we stopped teaching that life is not fair and what that actually means.
The Oprah interview is where I lost any remaining respect I had for them. We had an interview where Meghan, who is literal royalty, told billionaire Oprah how "oppressed" she was and that we're supposed to feel sorry for her.
Harry is just as entitled and deserves her.
She’s actually bragged about her ability to cry easily.
Narcissists can cry on a dime even better than actresses.
Many times the two go hand in hand
I was hoping that if COVID taught us one thing it would be who's indispensable and who isn't. Fake royalty, actors....go away!
Glad you stood up to this BS. If you lost the friend consider yourself lucky!
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=the+windsors+meghan+markle&t=osx&iax=videos&ia=videos&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DUM5YD6Ot3SA. the real Meghan. LOL. safe to open
One thing Harry certainly did is made EMDR therapy very popular.
Honestly, that’s where I start with most articles from The FP! The commentators are usually more knowledgeable and more entertaining!
This stinks because I really liked her on that lawyer tv show she quit to get married. She must really be a good actress lol.
People who watch Oprah and The View with bated breath!
LOL!!
King Charles III, then Prince of Wales, did everything to make her feel welcome, including walking her down the aisle when her own father could/would not.
el oh el
As soon as she can get nothing more from him.
Indeed, they squandered an opportunity to be role models. Alas, an upscale Jerry Springer episode is what they delivered.
You reap what you sow.
I’ve wondered about the divorce also.
They want the perks of royalty and none of the responsibilities.
Thank you. This is exactly right.
Very well stated, and 💯% correct. For all of their flaws, they are well aware of their roles. It’s the price they pay for their riches. Meghan doesn’t understand that. Not sure Harry does either.
I'd take Mike Rowe over most people. Good man, Mike is.
Don't be bashing People Magazine readers Mark.
When we gather, even Scientologists fear us.
They don’t even seem to have any level of awareness! They have no shame.
I guess TFP is reduced to gossip column pabulum, as there are no hints of corruption in the White House to ponder?
Yes LP, yes!!!!
You could also look at it as a sign that policital things can get better. If people can eventually see through these idiots, maybe the same can be said of the ones in Washington
Yep. If there's one thing Americans don't like, it's a career grifter. Wait - make that two - a career grifter and a criminal.
Hmmmm ... 70 million of our Lovers of Roll Up Our Sleeves and Do Hard Work and Also Family and Law n Order would vote again for a multi-affair, multi-divorce, career grifter and criminal ... hmmm ... what to make of this? Tis a conundrum, Jim :-)
Biden?
TDS much?
None, but thanks for your concern. I know it's heartfelt.
Eh, most would beg to differ after seeing you leap from the convo about H&M to DJT. That's the hallmark of TDS. No one should take up that much space in someone's mind.
Hmm. This comment section starred H&M, the Royal family, Diana, Trump, Trump again, Trump again, Trudeau, Beta Males, Biden, Biden and Hunter, Hunter, Hunter's laptop, Democrat groomers, RFKj, Newsom, Biden Takes Money From China, Pelosi, Hillary, The View, Oprah, and Trump AGAIN.
Unless everyone here is delusional, I seem to fit right in mentioning the indictee.
Great suggestion. I hope someone is reading this.
GREAT POINT.
So Piers Morgan was right about these F’ng grifters.
Morgan: “I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she says... I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report.”
Piers threw Harry’s book into the ‘rubbish bin’ in his show. 😂
That’s where in rightly belonged.
People worth 10's of millions playing the victim, that's what made them gross.
It must be a requirement for every article on TFP to include at least one dig at conservatives.
"And the princess and the prince discuss what's real and what is not. It doesn't matter inside the gates of Eden." B.Dylan
The author of this piece took way too long in coming to the conclusion that Harry and Meghan are fake.
How could you leave out the South Park special? 😂
