This has always been about a religious war being waged by Iran. Unless, and until, we recognize this, we'll never be able to find peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
The Obama administration sought to empower Iran to be a counterbalance for what they felt was an imbalance of Israel's influence in the ME. That position was not supported by the rest of the ME, which was evidenced by the Abraham Accords.
The first thing the Biden Admin did , being heavily influenced by former Obama officials, and probably Obama himself, was to undo the progress made by the AC, and make Iran financially solvent again.
Iran, and their proxies, took this as a surrender by the US, which has resulted in their proxies conducting a war against Israel, the US and any countries conducting trade through the Gulf.
This is a much bigger war than the current administration is portraying, and is because of a massive foreign policy mistake, that has it's roots in Barack Obama's administration. It will never be solved by a 'Two State' solution, because Iran wants a Zero Israeli state solution.
I think all people who pause in whatever they do--and it may be getting fat on the couch watching TV--long enough to allow some feelings to seep in, must feel that there is an ambient madness about us.
My own feeling is that it is an ambient fear--anxiety if you prefer--about the massive changes happening all around us. Our society is both evolving in good ways, and devolving in bad ways. The acceptance of difference is a good thing. But when the acceptance of difference is not done in an emotionally mature way, in a healthy way, what happens is that an endless openness in one direction becomes a profoundly nasty bigotry in the other.
Anxiety plus immaturity becomes what psychiatrist Murray Bowen called triangulation, which amounts to a form of tribalism. This tribe is arbitrary, mutable, frangible, and everyone knows it. The bond cannot last, and for it to feel organic, it almost necessarily needs to be based upon mutual hatred and rejection. This, in my view, is the sociological basis for ritual sacrifice--sacrifice literally means, by the way "act of the sacred"--which in violence unites a people.
So there is this ambient spirit looking for targets, looking to rationalize hate, looking for outlets and actual victims. That they use a claimed compassion and care for people they designate "victim" really has nothing to do with it. That is a superficial patina that should fool no one. If you are angry, anxious, and emotionally violent, it comes out. It's clear.
And this energy has long latched easily onto "the Jews". "The Jews" are spread thinly and have existed in powerful concentrations nowhere (until Israel). They were clearly different, weak, and in general unusually successful, both in business and in learning. All these traits make for powerful attractors of resentment. It is easy to project onto them all of one's fears, aggressions, and frustrations. And this has often resulted in pogroms.
Consider for a moment the fact that there exists a word for racist violence used uniquely for Jews.
What happened in southern Israel was a pogrom, no different from Kristallnacht. It is an old story, So is lying about it.
What is new, and I will continue to point to the existentially surreal emotional quality of this, is the combination of rhetorics of compassion, tolerance, peace and kindness, with the sort of viciousness that was displayed in that New York video. These are people who put oat milk in their lattes, and donate money to local dog shelters (well, maybe not Muslims, who don't like dogs, but certainly the people nodding in the audience). They are people who put rainbow flags in their windows and on their cars, and have the Tolerance bumper sticker on their Subarus, Teslas and Volkswagens.
That's weird. Hitler didn't preach tolerance and compassion. Neither did the Grand Mufti of Israel, or probably even the Tsars who created the Pales of Settlement.
Decent people need to wake up not just to the Anti-Semitism in their midst--that particular bigotry is obvious and undeniably embraced by many if not most on the Left--but to the overall viciousness, rejection of the Other, and profound immaturity and childisness they exhibit daily in all their illiberal actions and transactions.
I get the angst about the wretched dems books in school libraries. And it’s shameful, but realistically how many kids are really reading those bore fests. I’d venture not many and in inner city schools- none, mostly because they can’t read.
Now that’s not to say it’s right or fair so it should be corrected. Kids should have the opportunity to ignore R books also.
How about the Holocaust Museum in DC providing a new exhibition on antisemitism in the 21st Century. The atrocities of October 7 — photos, video and personal accounts - should be seen there. It is a reality that needs light shed.
I will add that I personally would feel ZERO desire to read any President's memoir, after perhaps TR, or maybe Coolidge, who was Silent Cal, but who also had good things to say when he did speak.
Conservative books worth reading would include Burke's "Reflections on the Revolution in France"; any book by Thomas Sowell, with "Basic Economics" a good start; "The Road to Serfdom" or the "Fatal Conceit", by Friedrich Hayek; "Intellectuals" by Paul Johnson--or just about anything else he wrote; "Economics in one easy lesson", by Henry Hazlitt; "Conscience of a Conservative" by Barry Goldwater and Brent Bozell; and "The Black Book of Communism", by assorted former Communists, who were mostly French.
That's a short list. Read any of those and think about it, and you will find yourself realizing that we are not all pointy tailed, horned demons. Conservatives are decent people who simply have adopted a mature and useful attitude to the processes of social and economic continuity, and sustainable cultural growth. That, in any event, is my own view.

Hiring adjunct professors is how universities have been able to expand their administration. Full, tenured professors are expensive and a lot of times irritating. Adjunct professors can be hired, onboarded, paid and dismissed without consequences.
This doesn't make his statements any less offensive, but it provides context. Perhaps universities should start firing administrators and hiring full time professors?
Even if what he says is true, that NYC is a zionist city, this fact doesn't negate that attrocities could and were committed. Those students should take their $60k and buy coffee, books, and substack subscriptions....would go way further!

He invited reporters and had US troops filmed the atrocities they witnessed when they liberated Ohrdruf concentration camp. My wife always covers that in her book talks (Memory Is Our Home). She gets invited by churches, temples, public libraries but not school libraries. Unfortunately, her audiences are older and mot younger who she wants to reach. Check out

I’d be interested in how many substantive books on conservatism are in those libraries, esp memoirs of more consequential modern GOP Presidents like Reagan (“A Life in Letters” especially) and Nixon (I said consequential, not necessarily successful). I could hope for books by Austrian school economists and Thomas Sowell, etc., too, but these are school libraries after all.
Of course leftist reporters deny Hamas's atrocities. They also deny the invasion of illegals at our southern border.
