Western elites have managed to turn a massive swath of Americans into self-flagellating fundamentalists. Stifled creatures, culprits of their own maladies, soft and soulless - they love nothing so much as appearing more holy than others, pantomiming humility driven by hubris. And it's so fucking sad.

While Ukrainians show the balls they have as a people, refusing to roll over to a vastly superior enemy, Americans are hypnotically reciting the wrongs of our past, ascribing ugly motives to people based on their group associations, farming likes and retweets by complaining about how Russia's aggression is somehow tangentially related to white supremacy, Donald Trump, and George Floyd.

"Clinically depressed or anxious teen girls getting mastectomies and regretting them is not a good thing for the trans rights movement."

Not to nitpick, but it's not a good thing for the girls, either. In fact, I think that should be the focus.

"Tucker Carlson asked Americans to consider why they hate Putin, anyway: “Has Putin ever called me a racist? Has he threatened to get me fired for disagreeing with him?”" Really, Nellie? Is that what Tucker asked? I think you, and every adult with an IQ of 90+, knows darn well he was contrasting Putin's Russia with China. Then you go on to mindread "the right" by suggesting they think Russia is some sort of bastion of Christianity. Wait, what? That might've been the most unintelligent typing you've ever wasted precocious time on. C'mon! The wrap up you do each Friday is for an organization called, Common Sense! If I were a college professor (aka an adult day care supervisor), I would've stopped reading your paper at that paragraph and given you another opportunity to correct your thought-free mistakes. I'm losing confidence that you're pursuing Bari's mission to search for truth instead of headlines and literary soundbites. You can do better. :(

THANK YOU TO THE US MEDIA

In the last 5 years the US media has shown that propaganda and covering for establishment elites is their real job. The whole "talk truth to power" and "keep them honest" bullshit they in the journalist class fed us is really just a lie. Putin and Russians are tyrannical - but at least they are honest and everyone in Russia knows the media is fake. Here in the USA they actively try to fool the people and profess to be a "free media". A few voices, like Bari Weiss, are exceptions.

We cannot regain our liberty in the USA without reforming the media. Change the law to allow people to sue the media when they lie and mislead people. Make the media accountable.

Thanks to the media for showing so clearly how Americans are manipulated. Examples -

1. censorship of the Hunter Biden story

2. the Trump-Russia Collusion lie

3. censorship of Hillary Campaign's role in the Trump-Collusion lie

4. censorship of Covid theraputics

5. pushing the "insurrection narrative"

6. Kyle Rittenhouse case - media lies and biased coverage

7. censorship of the origins of Covid

and so much more . . .

We are not “pro-Putin or pro -Russia”. We are anti-war. We are for carefully defining American interests and pursuing them. That article by Zoe was horrible, nice try trying to rehabilitate it.

Trump and his admin should get a Nobel peace prize for the Abraham accords, Obama received one for getting elected and being black

18 should be the age of consent for mutilating your body. Otherwise it’s child abuse

"authoritarian regimes that hate America and its people"? You mean like the federal government? I'm no fan of Putin but I refuse to go along with any plans pushed as patriotic freedom loving wars to "save" Ukraine by a bunch of corrupt grifters who are hopelessly compromised by corrupt dealings in Ukraine itself. Biden had his chance to come clean about his dealings and maintain a plausible deterrent force. At this point Putin has won, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ukraine ends up better off for it. At least they won't have to pay all those bribes to Hunter and company

Can we please get serious here? If everyone's panties are in a huge bunch over Putin's treachery why are we still buying Russian oil? Maybe because Biden's green insanity has weakened us and the West?

With me being "on the right", Steve Bannon and Erik Prince do not represent my views in any way. They are part of a small, vocal faction of alt-right nuts just like those "on the left" have a small but vocal alt-left contingent.

One has to wonder if the "thinkers" who claim parents have too much power actually have any children. And even more ironically, they seem to have no problem with teachers influencing the kids and trying to hide this influencing from the parents. Personally, I think Dante would have to invent a whole new circle of Hell for this.

"Clinically depressed or anxious teen girls getting mastectomies and regretting them is not a good thing for the trans rights movement."

The trans rights movement? What about the kids that grow up realized it's too late? They were brainwashed by the trans rights movement and others. This makes me say F the trans rights movement and, like CRT in the schools, stand up parents and keep these people away from your kids...until they are old enough to make this decision. Trans RIGHTS should not be about brainwashing kids to convert their sex.

The assumption for many people was that after the chaos of the pandemic things would naturally settle down. Instead the US has been propelled from crisis to crisis and there is a growing sense of doubt that the doddering old man in charge of the country is not up to the task of dealing with interesting times.

Wow, it seems to me that people are waking up, at least in this commentary section. When the SHTF the woke pretenses seem pretty shabby. I don't have a handle on this mess of world politics and ancient (and not so ancient) border disputes and atrocities, but I know those I trust, somewhat trust, and downright WILL NOT trust. Matt Taibbi doesn't align with my thinking, but he seeks to be forthright (which is the absolute minimum to advance reason) and doesn't speak in word salad or code. The truth-tellers are starting to shine through all across the spectrum and substack is a great nexus. The line that caught my eye the most was "Russian intelligence is taking names and police are making arrests, but Russian citizens think it’s worth doing anyway. This is courage. A lot of us have forgotten what it looks like." I say you only have to look across our Norther border in the last minute or two to see some courage. It was funny that reporting on that crackdown was also in the same publication here as if the two didn't correlate. I type these words feeling like big brother is watching over my shoulder and wonder if Alexa is recording the political discussions I have with my wife. Paranoia sucks but Thank God It's Friday!!!

Your beginning paragraphs read a little like the famous "view from NY' magazine cover. The mood in the country is even more complicated than you describe. I know of no one on the right who supports Putin for his societal reprise of Mad Men or Mad Max. That's just silly. Bannon is mostly listened to by coastal liberal fact checkers and pearl clutchers. His job is to be provocative. Most people I know are hard working and don't have time to listen to Bannon or Cenk or any other talking a-hole.

Most people I know do not want to get involved in Ukraine or any war for that matter because they no longer want to fight and die for a Western elite that despises them. They don't want their kids to come home in a box to spare the Euro dilatants the hardship of fighting for their own country.

The deplorables have woke-n up. Let the Euro's fight this one. The Euros would probably abandon any fight as soon as Putin turns off the gas. The time for intervention is long past. They lost this battle years ago when they agreed to suckle exclusively on the Russian energy teat.

Also Biden has said that energy would not be part of any sanctions. Energy is Putin's life line. It's Russia's biggest and most strategic export. Why would anyone want to die for an elite that won't make the ultimate sacrifice while asking you to lay down your life. Putin is not the only monster in the world.

Putin is not unique with his methods of discouraging protests. Just ask the J6 and Ottawa protesters.

Most deplorable friends and acquaintances have said to me "Send ANTIFA". Send BLM". "Send the FBI". "Send the media". "Send the Wall Street Banksters". They don't want their battles to be micromanaged by Ivy League lawyers. They don't want their kids to die and have their memory disparaged by J-school Marxists. They don't want their monuments destroyed. They don't want the flag they fought and died under burned. They don't want their bank accounts locked and livelihoods crushed because of their beliefs. And this might come as a surprise to big city leftists and former liberals. These kids don't want to be called racists. The elite won't even give them that much.

Whatever happened to the cry of "No blood for oil!"?. I guess it's OK if it's deplorable blood being spilled for European oil. Putin has even adopted the "Progressive" screed of "Punch a Nazi'' and just as idiotically as any big city "progressive" considering the race and religion of the Ukraine leadership.

Perhaps we need a 2 year national service to educate and integrate the college bound, especially the Ivy League hopefuls, into the broader society. That's the integration we really need as a country.

Puberty blockers are not moderate medical interventions. It's chemically invasive and dangerous. It's creepy and way more abusive than the Jon Benet style beauty pageants that the good and the great routinely condemn. I'm sure most of those kids would insist that they love the pageant lifestyle. It's a shared mental health problem between the kids and the parents that has exploded over the last decade. The kids may and often do see things differently when they grow up. The left believes a doctor should be fired if he doesn't assist in this madness. Add that to your list of discussion points.

"Teachers to stop focusing on kids’ sex lives - Good" Most Ed and Psych majors I've met in my 60 plus years have enough trouble running their own lives - like the rest of us. They are totally ill equipped to run the lives of others. Please stick to the basics. The Nazi's had Youth Indoctrination Camps. They actually worked if you think killing and dying for a mad man is working. It's not terribly hard to indoctrinate the kids. But you really don't want to go there. Do you?

The lot of the deplorables is described most accurately by Sandy Posey in her 1966 hit "Born a Woman" "You're born to be stepped on, lied to, cheated on and treated like dirt." That about describes life beyond the Hudson.

We have never let young girls get Pamela Anderson-style boob implants/cosmetic surgery until 18 (or without parental consent) so why would trans related surgeries be any different? Children need supervision and protection when it comes to elective life altering surgeries of any kind.
