While Substack provides such an important outlet for people like Bari to continue to speak freely, the forces of censorship have only become stronger in the last year. We must all continue to make a concerted effort to support those who are prevented from speaking, ESPECIALLY if we do not agree with the views that person expresses. Thanks Bari for leading the way.

“Most importantly, we plan to report on the most important stories of the day that the legacy media cannot tell—either because they fear alienating their readers or, more likely, their own employees.”

That’s why I’m here. Love your work, Bari!

So grateful for the day I heard you on Dennis Prager's show. As Dennis often says, those of us not on the front line of the fight against the rot must support those who are; therefore my support here. I love that this forum you've created allows for ideas from all sides of varying debates, some of which I agree with and some with which I don't BUT, above all , I'm heartened by the fact that these voices have a forum. I have been pessimistic about the fight against the rot but am now buoyed by what I see as changing tides. Thank you for this site, Bari

I’m happy that I subscribed here, and happily will continue to do so for as long as “here” stays on the path to healing the fractures in our society.

I am a little wary of the idea that bigger is better, though, so I hope that while you build something bigger you don’t let it change you or the reasons why you created this enterprise in the first place, Bari. It’s a movement back to sanity from the insanity of the Woke. It’s important work that needs to be done.

We need to continue to fight for liberal values in an illiberal time, but also, we need to stop allowing others to demonize conservatives while also demanding from conservatives to stop lumping in the liberals who are left with the insanity of Far Left Wokeism as well.

We need to not only change the way the language is being used to describe political or ideological affiliations, but redraw the lines. Liberals and conservatives need to stop thinking of themselves as opposites sides of a coin and see just how much on which we agree. We need to stand together against the tyranny of Wokeism. It’s the only way through this fractious time. It’s the only way we can heal our country.

It’s the only way back to Common Sense.

When you say guest hosting the View do you mean the Joyless Behar whoopee extravaganza nut job The View? Wow. I may actually have to watch that.

Bari, Thank you for bringing some "Common Sense" back into the conversation. I felt I no longer had a political home and you showed that there are many of us and we have lots of company. Keep up the great work!

Personally, I have always found faux attempt at “balance” on the View to be laughable and I find the show unwatchable due to the shrieking hosts with obvious bias. I quickly change channels so as to never contribute to the ratings in the same way I cancelled my subscriptions to biased newspapers. I find it telling that they have invited Bari on to the show… Is it possible that main stream outlets are wising to the error of their ways? More likely they are business models realizing they’re losing out on audience share so they’re dipping their toes into ‘common sense’. Personally I blame those women for increasing our cultural divides in America. I may tune in to see if Bari …we’ll see if I can stomach it.

I know this will sold like hyperbole but it really isn’t: common sense has helped restore sanity during COVID. It’s allowed those of us slogging away at keeping our heads above water for ourselves and our families to believe that we weren’t alone in feeling like logic has gone out the window. Thanks for affirming our belief in logic and yes, Common Sense!

I became a subscriber very early. The politics of Common Sense do not generally align with mine, but freedom of speech and truth do. I was compelled to subscribe because you are fighting in the frightening world of the dissolution of truth, and we need truth fighters more than ideological agreement. I remain a bit surprised at the genesis of Common Sense- what happened to you at NYT as a function of reflecting accurately about the rise of anti-semitism in the US. My surprise was that you seemed to be surprised at the reaction. It seems as predicable as the reaction to the Cotton OpEd. Intolerance, cancellation and even worse now (we are seeing arguments that go beyond just cancelling) have become the doctrinal base, the foundation of the new "freedom" of thought and speech. "Common Sense" cannot simply be a refuge for those who figured it out, or rather who were victims themselves, but be the norm, the standard. How does that happen- how does pursuit of truth, reporting facts, and respecting views (represented by main stream, not fringe) return as the norm? 135,000 is great, but that needs to move by at least 2 digits. I think the new university is great. There are a couple and it seems some alignment, especially where natural politics might not otherwise align, but devotion to freedom of thought and speech, pursuit of truth does, may turn the tide. Several different movements are fine, but at some point a convergence of mass will be needed. Thanks for what you all are doing.

You are going to be on The View? I hate the hosts of that show with a passion, but I’ll definitely watch if you can put them in their place. I thought Megan McCain would do that, but sadly she was kind of a wallflower.

If you are going to do it you need to be ready to do battle. Watch some episodes to learn their tricks. I’ve never seen such a bunch of ignorant single minded leftists in all my life. They absolutely refuse any logical argument that doesn’t comport with leftist dogma.

It would be great if you could get a message of moderation to their viewers. I can only imagine how crazy the world view of the average View watcher is.

Bari, your experience over the last year made me think of this reflection:

“ ….Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, “This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.

And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.

The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word ’struggle’ from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

--Hopi Elders' Prophecy, June 8, 2000

It brings many of us comfort and strength to look around and see you with us!
